People do Inspire!
Article 12
This may be out of the blue. I agree too. I live in a small island, not even close to a dot in the map. Saipan, the commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. It's not well known my teacher even joked that if you asked an American student from the US they'll say is that part of china or something? Ever heard of Guam? Yes. It's the chain of islands close to that. Other than my geometry teachers bragging rights about his Real World Design Championship where we placed first out of all the hundreds that participated we are starting to pick up. Parts of Asia may know us because of our tourism advertisement and I must agree, it's full Of ocean, the beach is nice, the weather is beautiful, the culture is marvelous but there is a problem. The economy sucks. We depend on the tourism and for the past few years after the close of its garment industry in the early 20th century, our economy hasn't boosted. The real problem from what I learned in my NMI history class, credit to my teacher that is its because of Article 12 which limits the rights of people to own land.
Benefits: keeps indigenous land that is owned from the local indigenous people safe and protected from people like the prehistoric past of invasion (early Jap and German administration before the war)
Disadvantages: investors or immigrants with the money can't own land to start businesses.
It hurts both parties because there is no money circulation and investors are discouraged. This affects us because our island won't get advertisement around the world due to the lack of optimistic minds. No investments = No money = No work. I agree with my teacher that they should remove this article or modify it so that it helps all parties. If land could be owned by anyone with a contract that could help the indigenous land owner at the same time benefit the investors then our economy would benefit. Think of the jobs and publicity right?
My teacher inspired me to think more about our government and economy and see its flaws at the same time think of ways to benefit it. Sadly we hadn't had the right leader who'd solve all our problems. The children is the future, we'll lead the next generations and help make this world a better place. Our world lack teachers like mine who'd teach us the values of being optimistic and help us become open minded to the world around us. And if there is, I hope there are more so that we won't commit the same mistakes from the past and like my teacher and all the historians says and proved "history repeats itself". Hope I inspired all of you to become optimistic, learn from your elders and make a change to help not only your government, country, state but the world :)
